A retreat for the non-hasty, detached from the daily routines of life. Eight hundred hectares of undisturbed nature. The views range from Dangerpoint Peninsula and the shoreline to endless rows of Overberg-mountains.

The private nature reserve of farm 215 is located mid-way on the gravel-road from Gansbaai to Baardskeerdersbos, Elim and onwards to Cape Agulhas. It is a 2 hour drive from Cape Town. The retreat is a private and secluded place with a relaxed and intimate atmosphere.

Luxury accommodation in two spacious rooms on the first floor of the old homestead and in four modern and private freestanding fynbos-suites, spaced out along a footpath, meandering through the pristine nature of the “Cape Floristic Kingdom”. These large suites have a lounge with fireplace, bedroom, bathroom and – over the whole length - a covered deck as well as a sun-deck. Fans, minibar and under-floor-heating.

Meals, made from local ingredients and with an eye to detail, are served in the spacious dining- and bar-area. Sweeping views from all rooms and suites in all directions: over the Agulhas Plains towards the coastline, over the lake of Kraaiboschdam and surrounding vineyards and over endless fynbos and rows of Overberg mountains.

The 25 m heated lap-pool is reached via a wooden boardwalk from the old homestead. A covered courtyard provides shelter against the mid-day heat.

Farm 215 is a pioneer in sustainable tourism: all new buildings are purely electrified by solar-energy and heat-exchange. The pool is heated by solar as well and cleaned with salt instead of harmful chemicals. All waste is strictly separated and recycled. Detergents are biodegradable and used water is routed back to the streams where it came from after purification. Most products used in the retreat are locally sourced.

The reserve is covered with unspoilt natural vegetation of the Cape Floristic Region. The 800 hectares of the fynbos-reserve roll up to the highest mountain-peak in the area and down into deep and steep gorges. Several different different vegetation types (fynbos, mountain swamps, lowland-wetlands, riverine scrub, scree-covered slopes, ancient indigenous forest-remnants) attract all kinds of living creatures and a multitude of bird-species.

A detailed map shows the various hiking-trails in the reserve. Guided walks can be arranged. Various guided multi-day horse trails are organised from farm 215.

Enjoy splendid isolation, an overpowering sense of space and the special nature of the Cape Floral Kingdom.
