It is still possible to see the stars, even when the television is switched off. At a place not too far away, where there are no street-lights and the smell of the ocean is intoxicating. This fully furnished 3 bedroom apartment is just a stones-throw from the beach. From the patio you can watch the world slowly go by, or indulge in one of South Africa's favourite past-times, the Braai (barbecue).

Franskraal, a humble and unpretentious town situated at the edge of the Danger Point Peninsula, awaits you to discover all its jewels it has to offer. This historical gem gives you the freedom to embrace the unsullied ocean air, having a complete rest filled with total tranquility. Idyllic walks along the sand-beach towards Uilenkraal will result in picture perfect sunsets. Interesting birds and plants may be discovered on the Groot Melkbos Trail, which is nestled away near the estuary. For an action packed feast, with activities like fishing, exploring the Klipgat Caves, visiting the Strandveld Museum or a trip to the Shark Cage Dive Capital: Gansbaai, it is easy to see this little town has sufficient gems to accommodate all desires. Franskraal is becoming a sought-after holiday destination for nature lovers and eco-tourist from all around the world. With its friendly environment and haven for outdoor enthusiasts it is growing into a unique tourist mecca without losing its historical and self-effacing edge.

Getting there

If you are driving from Cape Town you have the choice between two routes. The first will take you through the beautiful farmlands of the Overberg district, the second route via the magnificent coastline through Hermanus. Directions via Caledon Take the N2 over Sir Lowreys Pass until you reach Caledon. Turn right into town, go past the silos on the right, in the direction of Napier for about 30 km until you reach Van Brakel Store on the right hand side, then turn right into the R326 at the 4-way crossing. Continue for 20 km and then turn left at the t-junction (into the R43) at Stanford. Follow this road past De Kelders and Gansbaai, then turn right into Franskraal (approximately 5 km from Gansbaai). La Provence Nr 5 is situated on the right hand side. Directions via Hermanus Take the N2 over Sir Lowreys Pass then turn right into the R43 via Hermanus towards Standford. Follow the R43 past De Kelders and Gansbaai, then turn right into Franskraal approximately 5 km from Gansbaai. La Provence Nr 5 is situated on the right hand side.
