Boat-based whale watching, sundowners, fishing trips & scenic cruises. Join us on a cruise in search of the "gentle giants" of the ocean. An experience to be treasured! We are the licensed permit holder for Area 1 in Walker Bay.
Our permit entitles our vessel to approach the whales up to 50m, we then stop and the decision is left entirely to the whales whether or not they wish to approach the boat – being curious creatures, they often do come right up to our vessel!
We depart daily from the New Harbour (weather permitting).
07h00 (breakfast cruise special) – booking essential.
Then at 09h00, 12h00 & 15h00.
We also offer sundowner cruises and bay cruises out of whale season.
The duration is 1½ – 3 hours (depends on where the whales are that trip). The duration of a trip is normally about 2 hours.
We usually encounter Southern Right Whales, seals, penguins and marine birds. We are fortunate enough to encounter dolphins, Bryde's (our resident whale throughout the year) and Humpback whales on certain of our trips.
For your safety and protection we have built a "private floating jetty" to enable our passengers to embark/disembark with ease. Life jackets and oilskins are provided. All necessary, approved safety equipment is on board, including a 50-man life raft. The vessel is licensed to carry 42 passengers. A competent, registered skipper and whale guide specialist are in charge of the vessel.
Our vessel "Miroshga" is a 42 seater catamaran, built for stability and comfort. There are toilet facilities on board and light refreshments are included at no extra charge.
For added comfort, passengers should bring hats, sunblock, cameras, binoculars and jackets. Seasick tablets should be taken in advance, if needed.
Please contact us on the number below or visit us at the "Whale Shack", Hermanus New Harbour, situated at the water's edge. Bookings are not essential, but advisable, so as to avoid disappointment. All trips are subject to weather conditions and therefore may be cancelled at short notice.
