Ingwenya Lodge

Address 163 Hornbill Str
St Lucia Estuary
Kwa-Zulul Natal

Accommodation "Away from the Rush!"

The Lodge's name “Ingwenya” derives from the Zulu word for crocodile. It was quite logical to choose a name for our lodge indigenous to Zululand, in this first world heritage site of South Africa.

Main building at night

Ingwenya Lodge is situated on the "outskirts" of the residential area of St Lucia, nestled in the heart of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. The property borders the nature reserve with a view of both the sea and the estuary, a very unique privilege in St Lucia.

View from unit Hluhluwe

The surroundings are very peaceful and hippos graze often at the entrance of the Lodge during the night. Small game frequently wanders on the premises and a rumor of a leopard in the area has been going around.

Kitchen of unit Mkuze

The self catering units are named after the five feeder rivers of the St Lucia estuary: Mpate-, Nyalazi-, Hluhluwe-, Mzinene-, and Mkuze River and the Mfolozi that flows out to sea very close to the St Lucia estuary.

Mpate's private boma

Facilities includes air conditioning, a new swimming pool, Wi-Fi (wireless internet), additional freezing facilities, DSTV (bring your own smartcard), safe and a hiking trail that starts from premises. Units are serviced daily.
