In Dublin's fair city,
Where the girls are so pretty
I first set my eyes on
Molly Malone.
She wheeled her wheelbarrow,
through streets broad and narrow,
Crying cockles & mussels
alive, alive, oh!

It's unique in South Africa!
Selecting live seafood has been the norm in China for 5 000 years.  We're still learning!
Alive Alive O – The Shellfish Bar is a 'rustic' eatery – cooking is done in a shipping container and you dine al fresco overlooking the old harbour – and the only legal place in SA to dine on live perlemoen (abalone), supplied by the abalone farm alongside!

There's also live crayfish, mussels and oysters from their tanks.  Otherwise enjoy prawns, fish and calamari while you sip fine wines or beer.

Kleinmond is known for its beaches and natural attractions, such as the Kogelberg Nature Reserve.  Now developments in the town are giving it significant attractions of its own.

Five years ago, the harbour precinct was derelict group of sheds, partly used for perlemoen and wildflower packing.  It's former history had been erased (see History).

After an exhaustive consultative process, Wharfside Developments' Harbour Road is starting to take shape and a taste of its new character is starting to show – a unique street with a character all of its own, catering for locals and visitors alike.

There's a variety of eateries, a wine shop, fish shop, bakery, art gallery and an impressive pottery studio.  You'll find furnishings, collectables, funky art, clothing, jewellery and a selection of home-made produce.

The community that was removed from the area exactly 50 years ago is now the major shareholder in the company that is about to launch a R150 million development with retail, residential and hotel components.  There will be a fitting anniversary if the first fruits become visible by the end of 2004 as planned.
